Satellites stay in space for most of their life time. We know that the environment of weightlessness is present in the space. But, those are required during launching process. Because in that process satellite shakes violently, till the satellite has been placed in a proper orbit. The design of satellites should be compatible with one or more launch vehicles in order to place the satellite in an orbit.

The overall objective is to demonstrate powered flight on a nanosatellite with an electrothermal PPT Pulsed Plasma Thruster device. The PPT technology concept has already been studied at OIT since to understand the physical phenomena and to improve the thrust performance with both experiments and numerical simulations. The nanosatellite has the shape of a cube with a side length of 30 cm and a total mass of 15 kg. The main satellite frame consists of duralumin A panels. Both, a mass dummy and the engineering model of the satellite were safe under all vibration tests required from ISRO.
Multistage launch vehicles are employed to place spacecraft and satellites in their operational orbits. Trajectory optimization of their ascending path is aimed at defining the maximum payload mass at orbit injection, for specified structural, propulsive, and aerodynamic data. This work describes and applies a method for optimizing the ascending path of the upper stage of a specified launch vehicle through satisfaction of the necessary conditions for optimality. The method at hand utilizes a recently introduced heuristic technique, that is, the particle swarm algorithm, to find the optimal ascent trajectory. This methodology is very intuitive and relatively easy to program.
How a launch vehicle works
ELVs typically consist of several rocket stages that are discarded sequentially as their fuel is exhausted and the vehicle gains altitude and speed. As of October , most satellites and human spacecraft are currently launched on ELVs. ELVs are simpler in design than reusable launch systems and therefore may have a lower production cost. Furthermore, an ELV can use its entire fuel supply to accelerate its payload, offering greater payloads. ELVs are proven technology in widespread use for many decades. ELVs are usable only once, and therefore have a significantly higher per-launch cost than modern SpaceX or post- STS reusable vehicles.

As discussed in Chapter 2 , the savings associated with use of an RBS for a national security payload manifest of 8 to 10 launches per year is estimated to be up to 50 percent of the current prices being paid by the Air Force for EELV services. If an affordable RBS can be developed, these significant cost savings can be realized. This logical conclusion is supported using the cost history for fully developed EELVs—that is, recurring cost per launch.

In that way, they can operate in the vacuum beyond the atmosphere. Achieving a balance among these three factors is challenging.
